New Balance Fresh Foam More v2 Review

Updated: Oct 6, 2022

What am I looking for when I'm purchasing running shoes? What thoughts go through my mind? How do I choose one brand over the next? For me, and probably most runners, this can be a complex question and answer. How does the shoe fit? How does it feel when I run? What is the color? What is the price? Is the shoe attractive? But above all of these questions, for me, it comes down to two main criteria: Fit/Feel for the intended workout and aesthetics.

Pros: Very light and comfortable, plenty of cushion and support, good colors and design. I purchased this shoe to be a high mileage shoe, a shoe that I would wear on my long, easy runs. The shoe is a little bit bigger or wider (similar to Hoka) than most shoes I'm used to running in, but for me, that makes it the perfect choice to be an "easy" run shoe because the shoe isn't built to be fast....it was built for cushion and support. Given the fact that this is a high mileage shoe for me, I'm pleasantly surprised at how durable the shoe has been. I am currently 8+ months into wearing the shoe consistently for my easy running and it still has plenty of fresh foam left.

Cons: As I mentioned above, this is not a racing shoe. Given its size and extra cushion, it wouldn't be my top choice for a 5K or 10K PR. I also didn't really care for the "collar" at the back of the ankle. My assumption is that this feature was designed to give the shoe a better fit or feel, but in my experience, it did the opposite. I can feel it when I run, and although it doesn't hurt or affect my stride, the fact that I can feel it makes it a little annoying.

All in all I think the Fresh Foam More v2 is a great shoe and definitely a shoe that I would purchase again. The Fresh Foam makes the shoe very light for the amount of support the shoe offers, and the colors/design look sweet on my feet!
